Malmö's Cosiest Board Game Café & Bar

Want to Join Our Volunteer Team
Would you like to get more involved at Brads? And spend more time playing board games while you’re at it? We get so many people asking how they can contribute, and it’s always been important to us that Brads belongs to the community.

Last fall, we launched a trial run of a volunteer program. Well, it was a roaring success, and all who took part in the trial are still volunteering with us today.
And now we are opening the doors again. We are looking for around 4 new volunteers to join our team. So if you answered yes to the two questions about getting more involved at Brads and playing more games, then keep reading.
What is the
Brads Volunteer Team?
In brief, The volunteer is a group of amazing people who are committed to making the community of Brads welcoming and fun.
They host all our events, such as the Social Tables, RPGs and Quizzes. They also suggest and host events that excite them, such as introducing Magic: the Gathering to new people.

We are open to hosting a range of events that we feel serve the community at Brads, and that align with our values of

-
Community
-
Lowering Barriers
-
Fun and Joy
It should always be fun and easy to walk through the doors of Brads and to spend some time at the cafe. And a large part of that experience is due to the people who volunteer at Brads.
If this is something that you want to support, then register your interest now.

The roles
Hosting our regular events
We have 3 types of events we regularly host - Social Table, Quizzes and RPGs. Each involves slightly different tasks and you can sign up to do all three types or pick and choose the ones you prefer.

You can also do a different event each month.

Quiz Master:
We hold weekly quizzes on a Wednesday. You can choose your quiz topic, write questions and then come and ask them on Wednesday.

Social Table Host:
We hold Social Tables on Thursdays and Sundays. We currently host every Thursday and would love to aim for every Sunday as well. This involves choosing a game and teaching it at the event. You get to help people learn new games and facilitate people making friends.

RPG GM:
As the GM, you can choose what RPG you want to host and what adventure to run, and when you would like to host. We do a lot of DND as people tend to know that one the best, but we are always looking to expand the RPGs we offer, so feel free to suggest other systems. We do aim these sessions to more entry-level and new players and tend to one-shots as they have worked best.

For more detailed role descriptions and what is involved, you can check out the document attached.

Some useful information
Some useful insight to consider before signing up
Commitment:
We see this as a collaboration and want to work with you to create a social and active community. Towards the end of the month, you will get an invite to sign up for events for the upcoming month.

You can sign up for one or more as you feel you would like to do. If you are away or have a busy month, you can do less, nothing and then in a calmer month you can take on more events. You will have full control over how much you commit each month.

Then the cafe will create and promote the events. Some roles have a little work on your end (e.g., writing quizzes), and others you can just show up for the event. This is detailed in the role document - Role Descriptions

We work on 6-month rotations (so Jan -Jun and Jun-Dec) where we will check in and see if you would like to continue. This is about setting intentions for our planning in-house and to give you an easy way to discuss your commitment and experience so far.

Expectations:
You can expect a really fun group of people who work together to nurture a thriving community. The staff at Brads, and the other volunteers work together to ensure a great experience, and you can expect a lot of support from everyone.
Final Important Things to Note
We keep the team small
To ensure a great experience for the volunteers, we keep the team smaller, while ensuring enough people are participating to share the effort. So we will only take on a maximum of 4 new people. We will meet with all who show interest and go over the volunteer program in detail to ensure it is a good fit for everyone before signing you up.

This is a volunteer position. What does that mean?
It’s unpaid, and you won’t be an employee or have employee responsibilities. But your time matters to us, and we want you to feel appreciated. So we do offer some small perks and constantly look for ways to make this experience incredible for you.

I have questions about the roles or the program as a whole!
Great. We can't wait to hear them. Fill out the interest form to register your interest, and you can pop the question in there, too. We will schedule a meeting with all those who show interest and will answer all the questions there as well. It is important to us that you feel really confident about this program before you sign up.
So what is the next step?
The first thing is to register your interest. You can do that via the button below.

Then we will be in contact to arrange a meeting with all those who show interest to go over the program, answer questions and to make sure it is a good fit for everyone.
We will select and offer the position to 4 people who are still interested and want to participate.
