Who are we?

Brad’s spelcafé is the first board game café in Malmö! We serve drinks, sharing platters and snack food and provide games for people to gather around and share meaningful moments. We welcome social parties, families and heavy board game fans alike. We help everybody find the game that fits their mood and help out with rules.

We opened in November 2022. We are still in the very beginning of our adventure so we’ll try out things together and you need to be ready to join a team where all processes are not fixed yet, where things might be a bit wobbly and where tasks might be updated and adapted according to the activity. We want to build a team where everybody can participate in building the project and making it thrive. Flexibility is a big plus. We started with only hourly positions with the wish to offer more stable positions asap, which we are now implementing! On a longer term we wish to be able to offer even more stability.

Brads speclafé has 2 co-founders, Elsa, who is also the head cook and Ambre, marketing & event chief. Behind the bar and in the kitchen, you’ll be under Elsa’s management. On the other side of the bar, on the service side you’ll be under Ambre’s. Brad’s spelcafé is also made of 7-9 amazing employees and a great community holding events and activities.

How to apply:

Deadline: We review applications continuously so apply as soon as you can. We will close the applications as soon as we’ve found the right people.

We ask that you fill out this questionnaire (same one as the “application form” above) instead of sending a CV & motivational letter.

If you are selected, we will book an interview together. If everything feels right after that step, we will book you for a training/trial pass (paid).

We will send a confirmation email after reception of your application. Please do not ask how it is going, except if you haven’t received the confirmation email: we read and answer all applications 🙂 ! Looking forward to hearing from you!

As versatile waiter & game guru you are responsible for making sure our guests have the best time possible and you are the face of Brads spelcafé during our opening hours. You work closely with and under the responsibility of both co-founders.

Your main missions & tasks will be:

  • table & bar service: you’ll take orders behind the bar and if needed at the tables. You’ll bring out food and drinks to the tables
  • give recommendation about games to the guests
  • help guests with the rules
  • make drinks

  • helping out with setting up the venue (events), running some errands when needed (buying missing ingredients, decorations for events etc.)
  • helping out before/during/after events

What we are looking for/ who you are:

We believe in transferable skills so you do not need to have any experience of service or kitchen!

  • You are adaptable and you can deal with unexpected situations
  • You are willing to help and are good at listening and guiding people
  • You are good at explaining and adapting to your audience. It is a plus if you are used to explaining board game rules
  • You can deal with stress and high tempo (even though we want to make sure we are a sustainable workplace, it sometimes happens!)
  • It is a plus if you feel comfortable in the kitchen
  • and above all: you are nice and open-minded ^^

We are looking for several hourly employees that need to be good at following directions and go from one task to another. There is also a possibility to work both as a waiter and as a cook depending on the schedule: if you are interested in both working as a waiter/waitress and as a cook, feel free to also feel in our other application here.

We also hope to be able to make some hourly positions evolve into more stable employment (part or full time). In that case, it is a plus if:

  • you already have some knowledge about service/restaurants/café etc.
  • you are not afraid of taking responsibilities and are good at making decisions
  • You have a creative mind and ideas for how we could make Brads spelcafé grow

Right now we are in the opening phase: after a few months of pop up, we bought a venue and are now working towards the opening. We hope it will be during September but haven’t fixed a precise opening date yet.
